iPhone 4G concept

A leading technology website was tonight claiming to have the first pictures of Apple's new iPhone.

Gizmodo.com published a series of pictures of an iPhone-like handset it said was the much-anticipated 4G model.

"It was found lost in a bar in Redwood City, camouflaged to look like an iPhone 3GS," wrote journalist Jason Chen. "We got it. We disassembled it. It's the real thing."

Mr Chen went on to claim that the features were "drastically new and drastically different from what came before."
